2008 TNGIC Geocaching Event
Instructions for each File Type
TerraSync SSF file
- Download TNGIC_Cache.imp from TerraSync folder.
- Use Data Transfer Utility to send the TNGIC_Cache.imp file to the Trimble GPS unit as a "data file".
- Open TNGIC_Cache in TerraSync on the GPS unit using "Open Existing File".
ArcPad
- Determine whether you have ArcPad 6 or ArcPad 7.
- Download the entire Zip file TNGIC_Cache_ArcPad_6.zip or TNGIC_Cache_ArcPad_7.zip depending on your version.
- Unzip keeping the folder name TNGIC_Cache_ArcPad_6 or TNGIC_Cache_ArcPad_7 intact.
- Copy TNGIC_Cache_ArcPad_6 or TNGIC_Cache_ArcPad_7 onto GPS unit using the Explore button on ActiveSync.
- Open TNGIC_Cache_ArcPad_6 or TNGIC_Cache_ArcPad_7 in ArcPad.
Recreational Units (Garmin, etc)
Download contents from the Rec-Units
folder. We have provided the data in both an excel spreadsheet and a
PDF file.
Raw Shapefiles
The Raw_ShapeFiles_WGS84_LatLon.zip file contains shapefiles of the
geocaching area. Unzip files before use. A team can use these shapefiles
in ArcPad or any other device that accepts
shapefiles.

Important Note about GEO-Jobe provided Trimble GPS Units:
We are going to be providing 4 Trimble GPS Units pre-loaded with TerraSync and ArcPad data for those not bringing GPS units. For those bringing your own units, you will need to download the above data prior to the event and get it loaded on your system. We don’t want to disadvantage anyone using units other than those provided by GEO-Jobe so please come prepared with your data pre-loaded.
Grading
Criteria:
Finish within 2 hours = 50 points (1 point deduction for each minute past
2.5 hours)
Each token returned = 5 Points
Each correct description of Cache = 2 Points (Only for caches 1, 3, 6, 10 and
11)
Total Points available = 100 Points
