Mapping the 2011 TNGIC Conference through Social Media
GEO-Jobe GIS will be tracking all the social media activity at this year’s 2011 TNGIC conference. The site will be up and running in our booth during the conference or you can visit the site here. The three social media sources
that we’re tracking are YouTube videos, twitter posts, flickr, and user data created directly on the site. I am hoping that with all of the events such as the golf outing, the geocaching event, and people moving around the city will produce really good data for displaying throughout the conference…….this should be fun. If you do not have accounts for any of these applications, create and account and feel free to participate YouTube, Twitter, Flickr.
Here are some things to keep in mind when contributing:
1.) Make sure your GPS is turned on, on your camera or mobile device. This will give us more accurate locations of your posts, pics, etc.
2.) When posting, make sure not to forget to click the option “Add location” before you send the posts. Most applications have this option such as twitter and youtube
3.) When posting to Twitter use: #TNGIC2011 , this keeps everything in the same trend
4.) When posting to YouTube use: TNGIC2011 as your keywords/tags so that the application can find it to pull into the map
5.) When posting to Flickr use: TNGIC2011 as your keywords/tags so that the application can find it to pull into the map
6.) If you do not have a mobile phone, twitter account, flickr account or YouTube account, you will have the ability to manually add pictures, links, videos, and data directly to the site.
If you have any questions or are unsure on how to participate, feel free to email me, give me a call, or see me at the booth.
